POETRY

Scotland the brave Christmas 2006

In the wilderness,
Despite the champagne air
And peaty bogs.
Amongst the swirling tartan,
Girls pierce their navels
And paint their nails.

Standing on the empty sands,
Watching pods of whales
On their journey north.
They find gangster rap
On their I pods

With Land snow covered,
They smooth on fake tan,
Picking at a lettuce leaf,
Flown in
To eat with smokies.
Moaning about
Their weight,
To a father, having a dram
To defrost
Frozen hands.

In Edinburgh,
Time for tattoos
Arrives.
The choice,
Bums or thighs.
As
Stalking the deer,
The hunters come
Armed with coke and gum,
Tempting the young
To the low road south.
On the net
Pipers play a lay,
For supermarkets
New Year day,
Highland clearances.
