We are always standing at the cross roads it seems to me.
But I raely get tempted by the devil .No offers of beauty and paradise in return for my soul this week.
Instead I was sitting pondering the difficulty of leaving this place in search of paradise elswhere,
when there was a knock on the door. That in its self is a rare happening. I live in a rural area 5 miles from the nearest town. Buses only come here once an hour, not at all after dark and certainly not on a Sunday. Bus use is of course completly unacceptable in rural areas, for any man over the age of 18, or in a job with monthly pay not a weekly wage , unless he is interested in pigeons or wears sandels with socks or recycles his urine.
Unknown to the chattering classes, bus use is for the spiritually initiated, but you cant tell them. SO its not a friend I think, because they would phone, as the long journey out here means , they need to know I will be in for at least the next three hours prefferably four, just in case theres a hitch. Its certainly not one of Those strange people who are willing to spend untold amounts of money to get to work or do their job, or of course buy petrol in order to go and spend money
and are seduced by the visions of the paradise of freedom, yet only use their car for pleasure two weeks a year when they spend hours in a car stuck in trafic jams in order to go and sit in the rain on a beach. Its not them because they would phone, because everyone knows that out here are wolves, and its possible to get lost and you could get stuck in one of the roads, so I might need to go and stand at the end of the road, because without street lights its so difficult to find your way in the dark in a car.
Maybe its a neighbour I though, dispite being rural I am surrounded by houses ,but we keep ourselves to our selves, there have been instances.Need I say more.
Theres another knock, better answer it I thought. Twas just my landlords property maintenence
man to tell me I don't need new taps deispite not being able to turn these ones off.
Oh alladin just come and rub your lamp ,Take me to the crossroads.
