Life contains many options for rushing

a bus provides you with the opportunity to meditate

relax and learn

all for the price of a bus ticket

or for free if you are over sixty.

I have not spent 40 years in a nunnery

But I have spent 47 years as a parent

and I can tell you

Change

is the name of the game

As a parent we watch chaos come and go like waves on the sea

we get to know our children ,then they are gone.

we watch the piles of washing grow,

the shopping ,the cleaning, the endless

"shut the door"

"clear up when youve finished"

and then they are gone,

things remain where we put them.

and we are left with the memory of that first smile

they gave you as a baby.

The smile that filled a thousand years with love.

Time has no shape no weight no space

time cannot be saved

or spent.

Remember that smile and catch a bus.

We are within the future and the past
